Surface Tension

Material Tension Meets Layered Symbolism

September 6 — November 1, 2025

Surface Tension brings together five Southern California artists whose practices interrogate the boundary between surface and meaning. Working across graffiti, collage, resin, digital media, and abstract painting, each artist manipulates material to heighten its tactile, optical, and symbolic impact.

The exhibition considers how gloss, texture, and layered imagery can both reveal and obscure underlying narratives. Viewers are invited to question the seductive power of surfaces, whether polished to a mirror finish or fractured into raw fragments, and the tensions they hold beneath. In this convergence of styles and disciplines, Surface Tension offers a vivid, high-energy meditation on materiality and perception.
