LAYERED MEMORIES
A Figurative Exploration of What We Carry
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 10, 2026
Exhibition: October 10 – December 19, 2026
Curated by Jonathan Anderson
What do we carry with us? What do we preserve, conceal, inherit, and leave behind?
VEFA Gallery presents Layered Memories, a compelling exhibition bringing together eight contemporary artists whose distinct visual languages explore the complexities of memory, identity, and the human experience.
Through striking portraiture, expressive abstraction, intricate symbolism, and the transformation of the human form, the exhibition examines how our experiences shape who we are and how we are seen. Faces emerge and dissolve. Histories collide. Bodies become living archives of personal and collective memory.
Each artist offers a unique perspective, revealing how the human figure can embody everything from cultural inheritance and personal history to vulnerability, beauty, and transformation.
More than an exhibition of the human figure, Layered Memories is an exploration of everything we carry beneath the surface.
